State Rep. Joe Verrengia (D-West Hartford) announced Tuesday that funding has been approved for improvements on I-84 in West Hartford.
“This project, which includes sound barriers on a stretch of I-84, has been in the works for some time so I am very pleased to see it finally coming to fruition,” Verrengia said. “These improvements will be good for area neighborhoods and will contribute to an improved quality of life for residents. I look forward to seeing these improvements take shape over the coming weeks.”
The State Bond Commission approved $78 million for construction of operational (exit and entrance) lanes for I-84 interchanges 40 to 42 in West Hartford at its meeting on Dec. 11. The funding for West Hartford was included in the total of $91 million in transportation funding as Item #19 on the agenda.
Verrengia represents West Hartford’s 20th Assembly district. In addition to chair of Public Safety, he serves on the Transportation Committee.
