The Hall Titans volleyball team fought hard but ultimately fell in straight sets to a powerful Bristol Central squad on Monday night. Despite the 3-0 sweep, Hall showed resilience and flashes of strong play against one of the state’s top programs – a team that reached the Class L state final last season.

From the opening serve, the No. 13 seed Titans faced an uphill battle against No. 4 seed Bristol Central’s size and precision. In the first set, Hall held their own early thanks to key plays from captain Faith Wada, who recorded both a block and a kill, and Reva Shrestha, who added a strong kill of her own. Zuri Freeman delivered an ace that energized the Titans, and a few unforced errors from Bristol Central helped keep Hall in the mix. However, the Rams’ powerful offense eventually took control, closing out the first set with a 25-8 win.

The second set showed a much more competitive side from Hall. Freeman opened the scoring with a sharp kill, setting an early tone. The Titans managed to take advantage of opportunities and found momentum through a combination of smart attacks and solid defense. Shrestha continued to shine, adding several kills and joining forces with #30 for a key block at the net. Nybal Bona also contributed a crucial kill during the middle of the set, helping Hall keep the score tight.

At one point, the Titans trailed just 7-4, their energy matching the Rams point-for-point. Hall’s communication and hustle were evident as they chased every ball and refused to back down. Still, Bristol Central’s consistency and experience prevailed down the stretch, as the Rams closed out the set 25-19 despite Hall’s best effort.

Entering the third set, the Titans hoped to turn the tide and extend the match. Hall came out determined, putting together several strong sequences that included a few kills, an ace, and a solid block at the net. But Bristol Central maintained control, capitalizing on their hitting power and disciplined defense to limit Hall’s scoring opportunities. The Titans continued to battle but couldn’t quite find the rhythm needed to push the match to a fourth set. The final set ended 25-11, sealing the sweep for Bristol Central.

Though the result wasn’t what Hall had hoped for, the Titans’ effort against one of the state’s elite programs was a valuable test. The match highlighted individual strengths – including Wada’s leadership at the net, Freeman’s serving and early offensive spark, and Shrestha’s consistent attacking presence.

As the postseason continues, thevTitans, 12-6 and ranked No. 18 in Class LL, will look to build on their positive stretches from this matchup, focusing on tightening defense, sustaining energy through long rallies, and turning strong starts into set wins. Despite the tough loss, Hall proved that even against top-tier competition, their determination and teamwork remain a defining part of their identity.
