An elderly West Hartford resident failed to stop when pulling into her driveway on Westbrook Road late Monday morning, and drove through the door, out the back of the garage, and came to a stop when her vehicle hit a neighbor’s house on Overbrook Road.
“No one was hurt, thankfully,” West Hartford Fire Capt. Keith Byrne said. Byrne said the driver “missed the stop and drove right through the garage and into the neighbor’s house.”
A West Hartford building inspector was on the scene inspecting the damaged garage. The neighbor said that some studs in her garage were knocked loose but there was otherwise little damage to the structure. She was home at the time and startled by the noise.
West Hartford Police have identified the driver of the vehicle as Diane Stuart, 80, of Westbrook Road.
The incident happened just after 11:30 a.m. Monday.
