Conard had an identical winning percentage (0.781) heading into the CIAC Class L field hockey tournament, but Greenwich, which plays in the highly-competitive FCIAC, had more wins and as the No. 9 seed to the Cardinals’ No. 8, the Red Wolves had to travel for their first-round tournament game.

Greenwich (13-3-0-1), which last month defeated West Hartford’s Hall High School 10-1, proved a tough foe for the Red Wolves, who lost 7-0.

Conard ends the season with a record of 10-2-3-2.
