Conard Swimming and Diving Continues Unbeaten Streak

The Conard girls swim and dive team moved to 3-0 on the season with an 95-73 win over Berlin on Thursday at Cornerstone Aquatics Center.
The Conard team of Rosie Alonzo, Ella Hall, Claire Haverly, and Cecelia Peck got things started in the 200 medley relay. In the 200 Freestyle, Conard’s Gracie Lowney (first), Kayla Lowney (third), and Emilie O’Sullivan (fourth) opened the lead to 23-7 before the Red Wolves swept the 200 individual medley as Ellie Harhay (first), Claire Haverly (second), and Celia Filotto (third) extended the Conard lead to 36-10.

A 1-3-4 finish in the 50 free by Laura Haverly, Lyla Harhay and Peck stretched the lead to 47-15. Diving was won by Emma Toce from Berlin as Conard’s Charlotte Willard placed third.
Bailey Kissane from Berlin won the 100 butterfly as Alonzo, Filotto, and Edie Kitzman took the 2-3-4 spots. G Lowney got her second win of the day in the 100 free as she teamed up with Lucy Pincince (third) and C Haverly (fourth).
The Red Wolves kept the pressure on with their second sweep of the day in the 500 freestyle as L Harhay, K Lowney, and E Harhay finished ahead of the Berlin swimmers. The meet was mathematically over after the 200 freestyle relay teams of G Lowney, Peck, Pincince, and L Harhay, and C Haverly, Filotto, E Harhay, and K Lowney finished 1-2 bringing the score to Conard’s favor, at 95-55.

In the last three events of the day, the Conard team of L Haverly (second win of the day), O’Sullivan, and Lucy Archambault swept the 100 backstroke, followed by the trio of Hall, Alonzo, and Ciara Frewen sweeping the breaststroke. In the meet’s final event, the 400 freestyle relay teams of G Lowney, L Harhay, Pincince, and L Haverly, along with K Lowney, Filotto, O’Sullivan, and Frewen went on to a 1-2 finish.
The Red Wolves racked up another eight state tournament autocuts.

Conard will go on the road Tuesday to face Glastonbury.
