Congregation Beth Israel to Hold Inaugural ‘Pride Shabbat’ on Friday

Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford will raise its Pride flag on Friday, June 28 at the synagogue’s inaugural Pride Shabbat.

The public is invited to join Congregation Beth Israel for its first Pride Shabbat on Friday, June 28 at 6:30 p.m., at 701 Farmington Ave. in West Hartford.
During this outdoor service – weather permitting – Congregation Beth Israel will honor the movement for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer equality and inclusion while celebrating LGBTQ+ Jews and the intersection of Jewish identity and LGBTQ+ identity.
Those who wish to come at 6 p.m. can also witness the first-ever raising of the Pride flag at the synagogue. The flag will stay up through the weekend.
Congregation Beth Israel is a Reform Jewish synagogue of over 700 families, tracing its history to 1843, when Jews were first given the legal right to establish a synagogue in the state of Connecticut. Today, Congregation Beth Israel is a welcoming community where people of all ages and backgrounds can deepen their spirituality and engagement in the world through prayer, celebration, learning, and efforts to repair the world.
