Congregation Beth Israel’s March 9 Purim celebration includes a lively performance followed by a carnival featuring live entertainment, refreshments, games, and more. The Purim fun, which is free and open to the public, kicks off at 10:30 a.m. at the synagogue at 701 Farmington Avenue in West Hartford.

The Purim Shpiel, “True to Your Heart”, is an inspired production of songs and readings with members of the clergy and congregation performing.

The Sphiel is followed by the carnival, featuring live entertainment from the performers at Matica Arts and CBI’s own klezmer band. A bounce house, Hamantaschen, food, games, prizes and more will also be part of the festivities. The over-21 crowd can visit Vashti’s Hideaway for adult beverages and more food.

Congregation Beth Israel is a Reform Jewish synagogue of over 600 families, tracing its history to 1843, when Jews were first given the legal right to establish a synagogue in the state of Connecticut. Today, Congregation Beth Israel is a welcoming community where people of all ages and backgrounds can deepen their spirituality and engagement in the world through prayer, celebration, learning, and efforts to repair the world.
