Connecticut joins 29 other states and the District of Columbia in empowering pharmacists to play a larger role in contraceptive care.

Connecticut residents now have greater access to reproductive healthcare thanks to newly posted regulations granting pharmacists the authority to prescribe hormonal and emergency contraceptives.

According to the Secretary of the State, as of Dec. 27 the final regulations under Public Act 23-52 went into effect, eliminating the requirement for patients to first visit a doctor to access hormonal or emergency contraceptives, streamlining the process and making reproductive healthcare more convenient and accessible for women across the state.
