The Copper Beech Institute, Connecticut’s premier retreat center for mindfulness and contemplative practice, will host Thomas Moore for the weekend retreat, “A Sacred Way Of Life In A Secular World: Living A Soulful Life,” November 14-16, 2014. Participants will explore how to find the sacred and to live from the soul in everyday life, adding greater richness and depth to their lives.
The retreat begins on Friday, Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. ,with an all-levels yoga class and concludes on Sunday, Nov. 16 at noon.
Thomas Moore is best known for his 1992 bestselling book Care of the Soul. He has written 15 other books on soul, spirituality and holistic medicine, and lectures frequently on art, psychotherapy and spirituality. He is a former monk, a musician, and has practiced archetypal and soul-centered psychotherapy for 35 years.
Moore will guide retreat participants on a journey where anything and everything can become sacred: nature, objects of art, family and community. It presents an opportunity for healing and a deeper connection with one’s own soul, spirit and life journey.
“Despite the reality that fewer Americans belong to formal religious institutions, many of us still recognize the need to cultivate an awareness of the sacred in our lives. Precisely because of the velocity of life and the rapidly changing world around us, the need to feel grounded and connected is still a vital one. I am thankful that Thomas Moore can be present at Copper Beech to help our community remember the sacred values that transcend diverse religious traditions and bind us together as fellow travelers on this journey through life.”
The retreat weekend also includes yoga classes, meditation practice, experiential workshops, small-group discussion and a Saturday Nights on Retreat performance. Tuition is $250 plus meals and accommodations. Healing arts therapies including massage and reflexology are also available for an additional charge.
