“Kindness is a muscle!”
This World Kindness Day, Duffy students trained their kindness muscles to make a difference in their classrooms, at home, and in their community. Duffy students sang and danced to the Sprouts song “Kindness is a Muscle,” while performing intentional acts of kindness for others.
Initially, as part of her community building routine, Principal Kristi Laverty visited each classroom to read “Ordinary Mary’s Extraordinary Deed,” a story about the many different ways to show kindness, and how caring and compassionate behavior affects others and encourages more kindness in return. This idea inspired sharing the song “Kindness is a Muscle,” and inviting each Duffy Dragon to be someONE who can be kind.
Kindness and joy are core tenants of the culture of Duffy School. Duffy Dragons know that kindness starts with ONE. One smile. One compliment. One conversation.
This World Kindness Day we strengthened our routine and provided an invitation to help make kindness the norm at school and home. We are making a difference one extraordinary, kind deed at a time.
