The Exchange Club of West Hartford’s annual charity golf tournament was. held at Rockledge Golf Club.

The Exchange Club of West Hartford recently held its 39th Annual Jack Haeflich Memorial Charity Golf Tournament at the Rockledge Golf Club in West Hartford.

The weather was spectacular for the 100-plus golfers to enjoy the “scramble tournament” format to allow all golfing abilities to compete in the event.

With the generous support of the tournament’s major sponsors listed below, and the many other hole sponsors, this year’s event raised a tournament record of more than $33,000 for many worthy causes and charities.

Throughout the day, golfers were able to participate in a variety of individual hole contests including a chance to win a brand-new Volkswagen Taos made possible by Crest Volkswagen of Plainville for anyone making a hole-in-one on the eighth hole. There was also an extensive array of raffle prizes donated by local businesses and after the tournament everyone enjoyed a great BBQ style buffet provided by Rockledge Grille.

Congratulations to Rick Roberts, Andy Managan, John Roberts, and Bob Scully for being the low-gross winners’ of the tournament.

The money raised makes it possible for the West Hartford chapter to do what it has been doing for 90 years: support many charitable organizations in the community.

On a regional level, the West Hartford Exchange Club supports the National Exchange Club whose charter mission is: “The Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect,” and the West Hartford chapter directly supports KIDSAFE CT, an affiliate of The Village for Families & Children, located in Vernon.

Locally, the club supports about 20 charities every year in and around West Hartford such as The Bridge, Town of West Hartford Food Pantry, The Aurora Foundation for Women and Girls, Friends of Feeney, and Johnny’s Jog for Charity. The club also supports youth sports and awards the West Hartford Police & Fire Person of the Year, as well as college scholarships for Conard and Hall seniors and the annual Sullivan Scholarship for a deserving, community-minded, high school senior.
