The West Hartford Fire Department is investigating a fire in an industrial building that started right around 9 a.m. Tuesday and resulted in the closure of Talcott Road from New Park Avenue to South Quaker Lane.

The fire, which was reported at 9:01 a.m. in a building occupied by American Landscaping Tree Service, was reported “knocked down” at 9:13 a.m., West Hartford Fire Department Assistant Chief Richard Winn said.

Winn said that a welder was working inside the building and turned around and saw the fire. He attempted to put out the fire but was unsuccessful, Winn said.

The fire burned through the roof and the interior of the building sustained heat and fire damage, Winn said. Power was shut down to that building and several others in the complex.

Both the cause and the origin are under investigation by the West Hartford fire marshal.
