Hall Boys Hockey Outlasts Newington Co-Op

The Hall Titans earned a 6-4 victory over Newington Co-Op on Wednesday night at Veterans Memorial Ice Rink, using timely scoring and late insurance goals to secure the win in a back-and-forth matchup.
Hall opened the scoring at 13:15 of the first period when Charlie Ganey struck it in, assisted by Connor McHugh, setting the tone early. Newington answered at 8:57, with a goal scored by Jack Guilmartin tying the game and keeping pressure on through the remainder of the opening frame.

The Titans took control in the second period, scoring twice in a span of less than two minutes. Hall struck at 10:51 with a goal scored by McHugh, assisted by Benjamin Putnam, then added another goal at 9:05 to build momentum and extend the lead scored by Charles DeBassio. Newington responded late in the period with a goal scored by Alex Masi at 2:22, cutting into the deficit and keeping the game within reach heading into the third.
Hall widened the gap early in the third period with goals at 8:42 from McHugh, assisted by DeBassio, and 6:56 from Ganey, assisted by McHugh and Putnam, creating separation.

Newington countered at 6:16 from Billy Ryan, but Hall answered once more at 3:58 with a goal from DeBassio to reestablish control. Newington added a late goal at 1:09 from Jimmy Slavin, but the Titans closed out the game to secure the 6-4 final.
Goaltender Matthew Bonner anchored Hall defensively, finishing with 20 saves, while the Titans’ defense delivered key breakups throughout the night to limit second-chance opportunities.

Hall’s ability to capitalize in key moments and respond quickly to Newington pushes proved decisive in a high-scoring, physical contest.
The 5-1-2 Titans have a long stretch of home games ahead, starting with E.O. Smith/Tolland on Saturday afternoon and the Terriers on Monday.
