Hall girls soccer opened its 2025 fall season with a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Glastonbury in its first home game Tuesday afternoon at Hall’s turf field in West Hartford.

After placing second in the Central Connecticut League and finishing No. 12 in the state last year, Hall faced longtime Class LL powerhouse rival Glastonbury.

The Guardians, ranked ninth in the league and 24th statewide, struck first midway through the opening half to grab a 1-0 lead.

Hall responded late. With less than four minutes remaining in the game, junior midfielder Kyra Baun (#17) equalized. Just minutes later, junior midfielder Aliza Schleif (#21) netted the winning goal after a blocked penalty shot by senior captain Paige Keena (#4).

The Guardians held possession through much of the first half, pressuring Hall’s defense and keeping the ball in their opponent’s end. But the Titans shifted momentum after halftime with several strong offensive pushes, using defensive crosses and sideline give-and-go plays to regain control.

The match kicked off at 3:45 p.m., following a moment of silence in honor of Santino Calabro, the late father of senior captain Sienna Calabro (#5). A beloved supporter of Hall soccer known for his positivity and unwavering spirit, he was remembered in a tribute before the national anthem.
