Hartford HealthCare and the University of Saint Joseph are proud to announce an extraordinary partnership that will bring innovative healthcare including HHC’s telehealth platform to the USJ campus.

USJ is the seventh school in the state to join Hartford HealthCare’s Campus Care program. Through Campus Care, students can prioritize their well-being with convenient access to resources including primary care, preventative screenings, mental health referrals and offsite urgent care.

This collaboration will enhance student access to quality healthcare, reinforcing both organizations’ commitment to fostering healthy communities and to their shared belief that health and wellness are vital components of academic success.

“At the University of Saint Joseph, we are deeply committed to the success and well-being of our students. This partnership reflects that commitment by ensuring our students have convenient, high-quality access to the care they need – on campus and beyond. Physical and mental health are essential foundations for academic achievement and personal growth, and with this collaboration, we are empowering our students to thrive,” said USJ President Rhona Free.

Enhancing on-campus services, the partnership will offer virtual care options, ensuring that University of Saint Joseph students can access medical support anytime, anywhere. Through HHC’s telehealth platform, students can connect with healthcare professionals for urgent care visits, mental health consultations, chronic condition management, and follow-up appointments – all from the convenience of their dorms or homes.

This seamless integration of virtual care provides timely diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of conditions, from allergies and rashes to sprains and behavioral health, UTIs, earaches, coughs, colds, flu and much more.

The partnership advances USJ’s drive to deliver innovative, real-world education. By integrating modern technology into student services, it enhances both care and instruction, offering students hands-on experience to learn by using the tools shaping their ever-changing field.

“This collaboration represents a full-circle moment for me, bringing both pride and genuine purpose,” shared Krista Christmas, a current USJ nursing student and future Hartford HealthCare nurse. “Students will benefit from more holistic, high-level care, while those of us training for careers in healthcare will gain the hands-on experience with innovative technology necessary to make an impact from day one.”

The collaboration ensures that what is taught in the classroom is not only current but directly applicable, reinforcing the University’s commitment to relevant, meaningful learning.

“I am thrilled about our collaboration with the University of Saint Joseph,” said Jeffrey Flaks, President and CEO, Hartford HealthCare. “This partnership is a clear demonstration of our commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and driving innovation. By bringing our state-of-the-art telehealth platform and personalized, coordinated care to the USJ campus, we are providing students with the essential support they need to excel both academically and personally. This initiative will empower students to focus on their well-being and achieve their academic goals.”

The partnership will launch in the fall 2025 semester, with plans for expansion and enhancement in the future.
