In honor of ITNCentralCT‘s 10th anniversary, the Town Council of West Hartford recognized and celebrated ITNCentralCT on its milestone and commitment to community through mobility services for seniors.
Mayor Shari Cantor presented ITNCentralCT Executive Director Kevin Farmer with the proclamation at ITNCentralCT’s 10th Anniversary Celebration event held Wednesday at Atria Hamilton Heights in West Hartford.
ITNCentralCT’s Kevin Farmer, upon accepting the proclamation, stated: “The state of ITNCentralCT is good. We have served the community for over 10 years. We have engaged and committed volunteers and supporters, as well as satisfied riders and families. Please consider us as you hear of neighbors and friends interested in volunteering.”
West Hartford’s Town Council has been instrumental in bringing the Independent Transportation Network to Connecticut, and specifically in promoting and supporting ITNCentralCT’s mission of providing sustainable, community-based transportation services for seniors and adults with visual impairment, thereby preserving and promoting independence. ITNCentralCT provides safe, affordable, arm-through- arm, door-through-door rides any time, for any reason.
Former mayors Scott Slifka and Jonathan Harris started working with ITNAmerica in 2003. This collaboration led to the creation of ITNCentralCT, which started giving rides in April 2009. ITNCentralCT is headquartered in Room 216 in West Hartford Town Hall, and enjoys financial and volunteer support throughout its 15-town service area, from Middletown in the south, to West Hartford in the north.
