Kingswood Oxford’s Girls’ Varsity Soccer team beat Hotchkiss School, 1-0, on Oct. 25 in a tightly battled Founders League game in Lakeville.

Meghan Dalton ’17 of West Hartford was outstanding in goal for the Wyverns, helping to keep the game scoreless until the final 10 minutes. At that point, KO — playing without two starting forwards due to injury or illness — countered off a turnover in midfield, enabling Sam March ’17 of Glastonbury to drill a shot past the Hotchkiss goalie. This was the second game in which she has produced the winning goal; the other was a 2-1 victory over Williston Northampton.

Head Coach Tracy Deeter noted that many players contributed to the pivotal win, including Noa Boyd ’18 of West Hartford and Isabelle DeFlippo ’16 of Middlefield; Kelly Maloney ’16 of Avon; and Olivia Whirty ’15 of West Hartford and Marissa Aniolowski ’16, whom Coach Deeter said did a great job finding feet and keeping things simple in the mids.

KO’s record is now 9-5, with just one game left in the regular season.
