To the Editor:
I believe candidate for Connecticut Secretary of the State, Stephanie Thomas, when she says that by casting my vote in an election “I matter. My voice counts. I can make a change.” I believe her because she has an inclusive plan, tackling voter issues from registration to election day. She has a vision for civic education initiatives to make the voting process easily understandable and accessible to all, which in turn will allow voting to be less cumbersome and intimidating. This plan includes actions such as:
- Using technology and social media platforms such as YouTube to reach and inform a broad range of Connecticut voters.
- Providing tool kits to community groups and organizations to educate their consumers about the voting process in Connecticut.
- To bring town clerks and registrar of voters to the table to help solve specific community barriers within the voting process.
- Absentee / Early voting.
I also believe her because she has always run her personal business with transparency, integrity, and honesty. Her compassion for others can be seen in her lifelong service in the nonprofit sector, advocating for those who have significant challenges. Her campaigns and her time in public service reflect these values and characteristics. There is no other candidate who can protect voter access and outcomes like Stephanie Thomas, which is why I believe her when she says that my voice matters.
Make your voice matter too and vote on November 8th for Stephanie Thomas.
