To the Editor,
I’m writing a letter to We-Ha.com to urge support of Deb Polun’s candidacy on the Town Council.
When our kids were coming of age to attend preschool, we started inquiring about the town’s early childhood programs. I had met Deb nearly a decade ago when my wife and I first moved to Connecticut and even though we had just met, I found Deb to have a kind of warm, and familiar presence. I felt comfortable calling her about preschool in her capacity as a member of the West Hartford Board of Education.
We spent about a half hour on the phone and she took a significant interest in not only how she could help, but also about my family, our children, and their needs. I asked about open preschool spots, and not only did Deb point me in the direction of the proper offices to get assistance, but she took it a step further.
Deb started asking her own questions and putting her own ideas into action. Her advocacy led to the town receiving a grant from the Office of Early Childhood to expand access to more preschool classrooms across the district, giving financial relief and peace of mind to dozens of families. Thanks to Deb Polun, my children and many more received a world-class early childhood education with bus transportation to and from school.
Our town needs leaders who are willing to take risks, and make the necessary asks to help improve our community, and I am very excited to vote for her on Election Day next week. I know she will bring the same advocacy and passion for the town that she brought to the Board of Education. I know, because my children will benefit from her support. I hope West Hartford comes out for Deb Polun on Election Day.
Sincerely,
Max Reiss
