To The Editor:

I am proud to support Deb Polun for re-election to the West Hartford Town Council. I first met Deb while serving with her on a volunteer committee at our local Jewish Federation, and right away I saw how thoughtfully she approaches every challenge and how deeply she cares about our community. That same commitment has guided her professional career and her years of public service.

Deb has built her career around helping others – shaping healthcare and human services policy at the State Capitol, leading nonprofits that support families, children, and seniors, and now serving as Chief Strategy Officer at the Community Health Center Association of Connecticut. Here in West Hartford, she’s served on the Board of Education and now on the Town Council, where she chairs the Human & Community Services Committee and serves as Vice Chair of Finance & Administration.

What stands out most to me is Deb’s style of leadership. In her campaign kickoff video, she said: “I will listen to everybody and work with anybody.” That’s not a slogan – it’s how she lives and leads. She brings people together, prioritizes equity and inclusion, and keeps her focus on building a strong future for West Hartford.

As a parent raising two children here, I see every day how much the Town Council’s decisions matter – from strong schools to the parks, pools, playgrounds, and other resources that make our town such a special place to call home. Deb understands this and takes fiscal responsibility seriously, making sure every tax dollar is spent wisely to keep West Hartford vibrant and welcoming.

On Election Day, I encourage my neighbors to join me in voting for Deb Polun. She has the experience, values, and steady leadership our town needs – exactly the kind of thoughtful, committed leader we cannot afford to lose.

Sincerely,

Nina Kunkes
West Hartford
