To the Editor:
I have served on the West Hartford Board of Education with Gayle Harris for the last four years. I am pleased to have the opportunity to recommend her for West Hartford Town Council.
I would like to highlight Gayle’s accomplishments/achievement while serving her term for the Board of Education.
- Ability to collaborate with the Board of Education members from both parties to come up with consensus policies/decisions that help our schools
- Ability to understand the different issues that are facing the School System (Board) and come up with different innovative solutions that work for both parties and our students
- Gayle has shown a willingness to consider and listen to all points of view.
- Gayle is looking for ways to make changes to the school system processes, that improve the school system effectiveness that are either cost-neutral or cost-reducing.
- She has shown empathy in trying to understand the impact of School Board policies on West Hartford residents.
While I fully endorse Gayle for the Town Council, I will be sorry to see her leave the School Board but believe having Gayle on the Town Council will be better overall for the Town of West Hartford.
