To the Editor:
As a seasoned resident, I’ve watched our town drift away from the balanced, responsible leadership that once made West Hartford such a desirable place to live. The current one-party rule has led to higher taxes, less transparency, and policies driven by ideology rather than practical solutions. It’s time for change – and that change starts by voting Row B on November 4th.
The Republican slate – Al Cortes, Dr. Gayle Harris, Kyle Zelazny, John Lyons, Dr. Sijie “Jason” Wang, and Ben Lewis – offers exactly what West Hartford needs: serious professionals with real-world experience who care about results, not politics. Their Platform for a Better West Hartford focuses on fiscal responsibility, government transparency, quality education, and safe, well-maintained neighborhoods.
They’ve put forward actionable ideas like Zero-Based Budgeting to control spending, Curriculum Oversight to ensure transparency in our schools, and targeted zoning reforms that promote homeownership and revitalization. Importantly, they will protect Title IX to preserve fairness in girls’ and women’s sports and stand for merit-based hiring over divisive DEI mandates.
We need leadership that values accountability, common sense, and equal opportunity. West Hartford deserves a Town Council that represents everyone – not just one political viewpoint.
Let’s take our town in a better direction. Vote Row B for responsible, transparent, and principled leadership.
