To the Editor:

It has been my honor to serve on West Hartford’s Town Council for the last six years. It is with that experience in mind that I write to encourage you to vote for Alberto Cortes for West Hartford Town Council.

For those of you who may not know Alberto, he is truly an amazing individual who personifies the American Dream. He was born into poverty and faced incredible challenges as a youth. Despite such adversity, he grew up to serve in the CT Army National Guard and later worked for the CT Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer – working there for over 20 years. He met his wife Jessica and started their beautiful family which includes their two sons, Gabriel and Adrian, and their dog, Teddy.

One may think that after achieving so much after overcoming adversity, Alberto may sit back and enjoy the fruits of his hard work. But no, that’s not Alberto – because what matters most to him is lifting up and helping others. He volunteers for his church, he is a former member of the West Hartford Veterans Committee, current vice chairperson of West Hartford Civilian Police Review Board and volunteers with the Hartford Marathon Foundation and with Autism Speaks.

And, when he is not working, volunteering, or raising a family, Alberto is out and about helping the West Hartford Police apprehend burglary suspects – An undertaking for which he received an award from the West Hartford Police Department. Alberto understands the economic pressures which West Hartford families face and will advocate for sustainable budgets and policies to make West Hartford more affordable for families. He likewise has the professional experience to address the numerous public safety issues which need to be addressed in Town.

On November 2, I ask you to vote for my friend, Alberto Cortes, and give him the opportunity to continue his life of service as a member of West Hartford’s Town Council.

Sincerely,

Chris Williams
West Hartford Town Council
