To the Editor:

As youth leaders in West Hartford, we wholeheartedly support Kate Farrar for State Representative in the 20th District. Our legislators decide on policies that impact youth and our future, so it is essential for youth voices to be uplifted and represented. Kate Farrar recognizes this and goes above and beyond.

Back in February, Kate reached out to the Conard Young Democrats, a chapter of the High School Democrats of America. She came with a desire to speak about issues that matter to us and asked what could be done to better the 20th District. No candidate has ever proactively contacted our club to hear our concerns, so we knew instantly that she realizes the importance of the youth voice. Since then she has created leadership roles for many young people on her campaign and is helping us fight for student representation regarding COVID-19 school reopening plans.

Kate has advanced gender equity with the Connecticut Women’s Education and Legal Fund (CWEALF) and locally with the Aurora Foundation for Women and Girls. We admire her leadership and how she consistently shows up for the communities she advocates for. We are confident Kate Farrar is the dedicated advocate we need to represent all of us in the 20thDistrict.
