The Mandell JCC will celebrate Spring and Passover with activities throughout various locations and at the Mandell JCC, Zachs Campus, 335 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford, CT.

To kick-off Passover, the Mandell JCC along with the Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation Sisterhood, invites adults to take a break from Passover cooking and cleaning to enjoy a Kosher wine tasting on Wednesday, March 25, 6 p.m. at Super Cellar, 332 West Main Street, Avon.

Passover festivities continue with Spring is Here – Let’s Celebrate, Sunday, March 29, 2 p.m. at Roaring Brook Nature Center, 70 Gracey Road, Canton. Families will learn about and touch animals that are getting ready for spring, take a nature walk and make a Passover craft to use during Seder.

Other Passover events include PJ Library Passover Storytimes beginning Tuesday, March 31 at 11 a.m. at Barnes & Noble, The Shoppes at Farmington Valley, Canton, and then Wednesday, April 1, 10:30 a.m. at Barnes & Noble, Blue Back Square, West Hartford, and Thursday, April 2, 10:30 a.m. at Barnes & Noble, Somerset Square, Glastonbury.

Passover is a one-week spring festival that celebrates the Jews’ exodus from slavery in Egypt, emphasizing liberation and religious freedom. The Seder meal includes reading the Haggadah (Passover story), eating symbolic foods, matzah (unleavened flat bread), and sharing special songs and prayers with family and friends. The first and last two days are observed as holy days.
