The Metropolitan District (MDC) announced that beginning on Monday, June 29, the West Hartford Reservoirs and Reservoir #6 in Bloomfield recreation area’s hours will be extended until 6 p.m.
Although vehicles will NOT be allowed to enter either facility after 6 p.m., those arriving prior to then may use the areas until dusk. As part of the MDC’s response to manage our operations during the COVID-19 pandemic, the closing hours for both recreation facilities was changed to 4 p.m. back in March.
Per the state’s Department of Public Health, anyone using public watershed recreational areas in Connecticut, such as MDC’s West Hartford Reservoir and Reservoir #6 in Bloomfield, must maintain social distancing of 6 feet or more when walking, hiking, jogging or biking.
As a reminder, parking lots often reach capacity in West Hartford and Bloomfield. Throughout the day, if parking lots reach capacity, they will close until a significant number of vehicles leave. Signage at the entrance of each facility will indicate status of the parking lot.
The MDC thanks everyone for their cooperation, which has allowed us to keep our employees and recreation area users safe during this difficult time.
