Join Great By 8 and the Bridge Family Center for a Free Workshop “Adventures in Mindfulness for Parents and Childcare Providers” offered in West Hartford.

A free workshop entitled “Adventures in Mindfulness for Parents and Childcare Providers,” by veteran educator Ann Sullivan, M.S., will be offered on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. at Saint Brigid School in West Hartford.

Dinner will be provided at 5:30 p.m. Childcare is available by reservation. Please RSVP for the event no later than Tuesday, Nov. 18 to [email protected].

Research has shown that mindfulness can be taught to children from a very young age, and improve concentration, attention, conflict resolution and empathy. In this workshop, educator Ann Sullivan will share the successful techniques that she employs in teaching mindfulness practices to her students.

Funding for this free parent and childcare provider workshop is provided by Great by 8, the Bridge Family Center, and the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.

Ann Sullivan, M.S., a veteran educator and teacher at Aiken Elementary School in West Hartford, has seen the incredible benefits of mindfulness practice in her classroom. Ann has attended a variety of trainings on mindfulness including “The Mindful Way of Education Course” held in Costa Rica this past summer and led by authors Daniel Rechtshaffen (The Way of Mindful Education: Cultivating Well Being in Teachers and Children) and Linda Lantieri (Building Emotional Intelligence). Ann practices mindfulness daily, and knows first-hand its powerful effects on her ability to manage the stressors of life including work, dealing with family illness and parenting.
