The West Hartford Department of Public Works has announced the promotion of Mike DiTaranto as fleet manager, replacing Chris Dec who is retiring after 30 years of service in the department.
DiTaranto is a West Hartford resident, and lives in Elmwood with his wife and three boys.
Director of Public Works John Phillips said DiTaranto, also a veteran of the department, is well-qualified for the new job. “Mike, or ‘Dito’ as we call him, has over 32 years of light and heavy mechanic experience, achieving ‘Master Mechanic’ status in Automotive, Medium and Heavy Duty Trucks, and several ‘advanced’ certifications related to the fleet maintenance industry,” Phillips said.
Phillips also appreciates that DiTaranto has experience with other DPW areas, and “loyalty to the public works profession and the town’s equipment.”
“This promotion is not only earned, but it’s well deserved based on Mike’s service to the Town of West Hartford. I look forward to his leadership of the Fleet Maintenance Division,” Phillips said.
