We use multiplication facts as a building block to some higher level math.  Fluent knowledge of facts helps us manipulate numbers more quickly and accurately.

Norfeldt third-graders invited their families to Math Night on Jan. 12 specifically to learn multiplication games. Parents and siblings came with open minds eager to participate in learning three math games.

“Keep or Trade,” is a card game involving a little strategy and a whole lot of luck. “Pick a Product” involves practicing mental strategies for multiplication facts. “Tic Tac Toe Products” is a game of strategy. All games have the same intention – to practice multiplication facts so we can use them fluently to solve problems.

Third-graders and their family members appreciated time spent together enjoying games that were fun and instrumental in helping to learn math facts.
