Eleven Northwest Catholic High School seniors have been named Commended Students by the National Merit Scholarship Program, based on their exceptional performance on the PSAT/NMSQTs they took in October 2014, when they were juniors. This is the highest number of Commended Students in the last 10 years at Northwest Catholic.
The students from the Class of 2016 are Caroline Banevicius of West Hartford, Emma Barnes of West Hartford, John Carew of Simsbury, Darius Cygler of New Britain, Bryan Deneen of Windsor, Jessica Eskander of East Longmeadow, Kevin Kearns of Simsbury, Will Moustakakis of West Hartford, Sarah Neubert of West Hartford, Timothy O’Donnell of Windsor and Rachel Sullivan of Granby. These students are among the 5 percent highest-scoring of the more than 1.5 million students who took the exam.
“All of us at Northwest Catholic congratulate and celebrate the accomplishments of these wonderful students,” said Northwest Catholic President Dave Eustis. “Their thirst for learning and the enthusiasm in which they contribute to our community makes them natural leaders. We look forward to their accomplishments in the years to come.”
Since 1961, Northwest Catholic’s mission has been to educate the whole person: mind, body, spirit, and soul. Enrollment for the Class of ’20 is now under way, and prospective students are invited to the Open House at Northwest Catholic on October 25, 2015.
