Last week was Fire Prevention Week, and open houses were held at all of West Hartford’s fire stations with entertaining activities as well as lessons to the community about fire safety.

At Lollipop Tree Nursery School, the preschoolers had the chance to learn about fire safety right at their own school. The West Hartford Fire Department made its annual visit to Lollipop Tree on both Monday and Tuesday so that all students would have a chance to meet them, learn about fire safety, and hear directly from the firefighters that they should dial 9-1-1 in case of an emergency.

“What a fun day,” said Lollipop Tree Owner/Director Jon Scher, who said that the visit from the fire department is always a big hit.

“Thank you, West Hartford Fire Department!” Scher said on behalf of the entire Lollipop Tree community.
