A Bloomfield man who has been locked up since being charged with rape on March 4, 2015, pleaded guilty Tuesday to reduced charges.

The Hartford Courant’s David Owens reports that Rashford Gordon, now 40, “pleaded guilty under the Alford doctrine to five class A misdemeanors, including two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree unlawful restraint and third-degree assault, and will serve just shy of five years in prison, according to the plea agreement negotiated by his defense lawyer, Gerald Klein of Hartford, and prosecutor Donna Mambrino.”

The victim agreed to the plea deal, the Courant reported.

Gordon was working as a subcontractor for DirecTV when he went to the victim’s Hillcrest Avenue home on March 4, 2015, to install equipment, police said at the time. Police said that according to their investigation, the victim had a scheduled appointment with DirecTV to have the equipment installed.

According to police, “The victim stated that the installer made advances and eventually sexually assaulted [her].”

After being notified by the victim, police were able to quickly locate Gordon at his next installation appointment in Hartford. He was arrested and charged.
