The School of Ballet Theatre Company (SBTC) is pleased to announce all summer sessions for 2024.

Summer is the ideal time for students to pursue a dance education. Without academic pressures or busy extracurricular activity schedules, dancers are able to excel at a more rapid pace in technical skill, strength and performance, while exploring a variety of dance styles.

SBTC recommends that dancers train for several consecutive weeks to support and sustain their dance technique and strength, however, it is understood that not all dancers wish to train in this fashion. SBTC’s summer program schedules have been designed to allow students the flexibility to train all summer or for selected sessions (weeks). All classes will be taught by SBTC’s professional faculty who train, study, and teach in a variety of styles.

New students interested in SBTC’s Summer Dance Intensives should fill out the New Student Inquiry Form to determine their placement in the program. SBTC’s Administrator, Liza van Heerden will be in touch no later than 48 hours after completed submission.

In Summer 2024, SBTC offers two Variation Intensives. This unique intensive is tailored for intermediate/advanced pointe students who desire to learn a classical ballet variation, receive professional 1:1 coaching, and perform it in costume in front of a panel of dance professionals who will adjudicate their performance.

  • Session 1 will be June 17-21 and will be for ages 14-16. Non-SBTC Students please contact [email protected] for proper placements. Students must have at least two years of pointe experience to participate in the intensive.
  • Session 2 will be June 24-28 and will be for ages 15-18.

SBTC’s Half Day Intensives are offered Monday through Friday for SBTC Ballet levels Primary Ballet II thru Ballet VI. If your dancer is not a student at SBTC please contact its School Administrator at [email protected] to determine the best level placement for your dancer.

SBTC’s Summer Dance Intensives will provide dancers the opportunity to enhance their training, artistry and performance skills. Each session dancers will train in ballet daily, while each individual session will explore two different dance styles such as Jazz, Contemporary, or Ballet Repertoire. Dancers will prepare a small showcase for their  family and friends that culminate their week of dancing. The showcase will take place on the Friday of each Half Day Intensive session.

SBTC offers a multi-session discount for its Half Day Intensives

A 15% discount will be added to the second (or third) session if a dancer chooses to enroll in multiple weeks. Upon enrollment, the discount will be made manually by SBTC’s Administrator. Please allow 48 hours for the discount to be applied. You will be notified after your account is updated for you to pay your deposit.
