The Seniors Job Bank (SJB), which for 35 years has helped homeowners find experienced, knowledgeable service providers to handle a range of household projects, has added babysitting, house sitting, pet sitting, and dog walking to its list of services.

According to SJB President Bob Cave, the new offerings, all delivered by members of the community 50 and over, round out a catalog that already included lawn mowing, gardening, leaf raking, gutter cleaning, window installation, and power washing, as well as other kinds of home maintenance tasks.

Many clients of the Seniors Job Bank have testified to and expressed their appreciation for the exceptional service they have received.

Joan LeVine Mellion, is an only child who lives in California, 3,000 miles away from her mom who resides alone in West Hartford. Joan’s mom, Ruth, is in her 90s and although she’s active and in excellent health, she often needs assistance with various tasks around the house. According to Joan, “Any needs I have for my mom, be it a job for a plumber, electrician, handyman, driver, companion, or housekeeper, I contact the Seniors Job Bank. The West Hartford Seniors Job Bank is the only place I go to find helpers for my Mom.” Joan adds, “The quality of people they have is outstanding and I truly do not know what I would do without them.”

Says Cave, “The volunteers and staff of the Seniors Job Bank are proud to be able to provide this much needed service, and understand how important their role is in the community, especially to people like Joan and Ruth.”

It’s very easy to use the SJB referral system. When you call or email the office and make your request, within 24 hours you are provided with contact information for pre-screened, eligible service providers, so that you can find and choose the best person for the job and negotiate the best rate for your budget.

As Cave points out, “Our service providers are not only experienced and knowledgeable, but also affordable and always available.”

The Seniors Job Bank may be reached via phone at 860-521-3210, email at [email protected], or on the web at www.sjbct.org.
