Planning is well underway for Hall High School’s Class of 2018 Safe Grad celebration, and organizers have planned a variety of events to raise the thousands of dollars needed to fund the party, which is free for students at the West Hartford high school to attend.
“Each year on graduation night, all Hall High School graduates are treated to a fun-filled all-night event that unites our seniors for one final hurrah of entertainment, activities, prizes, and delicious food. The Hall High cafeteria is transformed into an amazing, chaperoned, substance-free celebration for graduates,” said Safe Grad co-chairs Nanci Rosenkranz and Cheryl Wolmer in an email.
Donations of food, decorations, and prizes are received from local businesses, Hall alumni, parents, and others in the community, but additional fundraising is needed.
The committee’s major fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
“Shop the Halls” is a pop-up shopping experience that will be held in the halls of Hall. More than 40 vendors will be selling hand-crafted and unique gifts. Items will include jewelry, beauty products, home décor, fragrances, clothing, bags, books, candles, and more.
Refreshments will also be available for purchase.
There is no charge for parking for for admission to Shop the Halls, and proceeds from the event will be donated to Hall Safe Grad.

The committee is also selling Taste Books for $25 each (email [email protected] for more information or to order) and king size candy bars which make great stocking stuffers.
After the holidays, Hall Safe Grad will be holding another major fundraiser which should be welcomed by those looking to start the new year fresh by cleaning out their closets.
Donations of gently-used clothing and household items will be collected at Hall on a to-be-advised date in January, and will be sold directly to Savers (which also owns Value Village and Unique) with the proceeds going to the Safe Grad celebration.
Savers will pay by the pound for all qualifying donations, and Rosenkranz and Wolmer said the goal is to to raise $5,000 – which equates to about 2,000 13-gallon trash bags of stuff. Donations of clothing, shoes, accessories, bedding, linens, bath items, toys, household items, and books will all be accepted.
Look for more information, including the date of the Savers donation, to follow. Anyone who is interested in donating and can’t wait, can also email [email protected] to arrange for an early drop off.
