A motor vehicle slammed into a utility pole just before 9 p.m. Thursday near 207 South Main Street, damaging a utility pole which resulted in closure of the roadway in both directions between Webster Hill Boulevard and Crestwood Road for more than 15 hours.
According to Capt. Daniel Moffo, no injuries occurred as a result of the single-vehicle crash.
Moffo said police issued a traffic advisory at 9:30 p.m. Thursday indicating that the road was closed, and will provide an update on “X” when it reopens. As of noon, the road was still closed to traffic and motorists were being detoured.
Moffo said an Eversource crew assessed the situation at 5:30 a.m. Friday and once repairs were made the road would reopen. He did not have an estimate of the timeframe.
The road was reopened just before 1 p.m., according to a post from West Hartford Police on “X.”
South Main St has been reopened for motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic in both directions between Crestwood Rd and Webster Hill Blvd. Thank you for your patience.

This is the second time in the past several weeks a driver has crashed into and severed a utility pole on the same stretch of South Main Street. A collision on Dec. 2 resulted in the complete severing of the pole, and the road was closed for roughly 12 hours as a result of that incident.
No details have been provided regarding the cause of either of the crashes.
