A driver crashed into a utility pole in the vicinity of 206 South Main Street early Saturday morning, completely severing a utility pole.

West Hartford Police Capt. Daniel Moffo said the incident occurred just after 2 a.m.

The vehicle, according to witnesses, continued headed south on South Main for dozens of yards even though it lost a wheel in the crash. The driver appeared to be uninjured, Moffo said.

South Main Street was closed to vehicle traffic between Webster Hill Boulevard and Crestwood Road until approximately 2 p.m. while police investigated the incident and repairs were made to the pole.
