To continue its 25th Anniversary celebration, Ballet Theatre Company (BTC) is proud to present Stephanie Dattellas’ Snow White at the Bushnell’s Belding Theater, April 20-21, 2024.

Dattellas’ rendition of Snow White blends elements from the traditional Brothers Grimm tale with her own ballet twists, following Snow White as she experiences hardships, friendships, and unexpected trials with unwavering kindness. This innovative spin on the classic tale embodies the triumph of good over evil and will leave audience members with full hearts as they depart the theater. First premiered as a ballet for film at the height of the pandemic, BTC is thrilled to bring Dattellas’ Snow White to the stage for the very first time this spring.

Leading BTC’s cast of professional and student dancers will be BTC Company Artists Jo-ann Burke and Sarah Berglund, who will play the coveted roles of Snow White and the Evil Queen, respectively. Burke, a Wethersfield native, has danced with BTC since the original premiere of Snow White on film, and was recently featured as the Dew Drop Fairy in The Nutcracker and Cinderella in Cinderella. Berglund joined BTC as an apprentice this fall, and has been recently promoted to Company Artist this March after being featured as one of the over-the-top Prima Ballerinas in Marguerite de Anguera’s Apres Degas as part of BTC’s Up Close: Winter.

BTC is also thrilled to welcome returning guest artist, Zane Winders, who will perform the role of the Prince. Winders received his formal training at Ballet Lubbock and the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, DC. He has since performed professionally with Ballet Arizona’s Studio Company, First State Ballet Theatre, and Oklahoma City Ballet. Winders last joined BTC for their performances of Stephanie Dattellas’ Sleeping Beauty in 2019, where he portrayed the Bluebird.

BTC’s resident professional company will fill soloist roles such as the Scarf Witch, Comb Witch, Apple Witch, and Village Soloists. Pre-professional dancers of BTC’s Junior Corps de Ballet will comprise a number of ensemble roles throughout the production. Student dancers will additionally be featured as the beloved seven dwarfs: Brainy, Timid, Smiley, Grouchy, Snoozy, Sniffly, and Muzzy.

Details:

Snow White will be presented in three performances: Saturday, April 20 at 2 p.m.; Sunday, April 21 at 11 a.m. (Sensory-Friendly); and Sunday, April 21 at 3 p.m. All performances will take place in the Maxwell M. and Ruth R. Belding Theater at 166 Capitol Ave, Hartford.

Tickets range between $56-$89. Please contact The Bushnell’s Box Office directly for any questions about seating and tickets at 860.987.5900.
