The weather has suddenly warmed up, with temperatures already reaching the low 90s on Wednesday, and heat expected to continue for the next several days, but West Hartford kids have a place to cool off.

“Get your sunscreen ready! Fern and Wolcott splash pads will be opened today, just in time for the summer-like weather,” Director of Leisure Services and Social Services Helen Rubino-Turco said in an email Wednesday morning.

Rubino-Turco said that crews have been able to get those two splash pads ready to go. The splash pad at Beachland Park is not yet open, but will be ready in time for Memorial Day weekend, she said.

Splash pads are for children ages 2-8. Once open, they can be used any time the park is open.

Outdoor pools at Beachland, Eisenhower, Fernridge, and Kennedy are scheduled to open on June 24.
