Strategies for Handling Anxieties to be Focus of Women’s Networking Meeting

Tara Murphy will address the West Hartford Women in Networking regarding dealing with anxiety during the holiday season and beyond on Thursday, Nov. 21.

Tara Murphy, LPC, LADC, will address the West Hartford Women in Networking Thursday on the topic of “Handling Anxiety: Strategies for Everyday Life,” with a focus on the apprehensions we all feel going into the upcoming holiday season: Will it be fun? Will everyone get along? Will I be lonely?

The discussion will:

  • Define anxiety and identify related causes
  • Identify practical strategies to manage and reduce or eliminate anxiety
  • Make the distinction between distractions vs. interventions
  • Understand the difference between external and internal resources

Murphy is a licensed professional counselor, licensed alcohol and drug counselor, certified EMDR therapist, and EMDR consultant in training. She has worked in behavioral health for over 19 years and has a private practice in West Hartford, CT, where she treats adults struggling with anxiety, depression, and trauma. Her service to populations include offenders (in and outside of incarceration), the aging, domestic violence survivors, and offenders, substance users, as well as survivors of trauma.

Murphy has written curriculum for the Family Violence Education Program for pre-trial domestic violence offenders and the Parenting Education Program, a required program for parents divorcing with minor children in Connecticut.   She dedicates her time to helping professional women heal from the past and embrace their future with more joy.

West Hartford Women in Networking holds monthly meetings for women interested in connecting with other women.  The meetings offer a combination of networking, support, education and fun!

Christgau will speak to the West Hartford Women in Networking on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 7:30-9:30 a.m., at Chatfield/Brookdale, One Chatfield Dr., West Hartford, CT.

The meeting will also include introductions, networking, door prizes, and breakfast snacks. There will be a display table, and attendees are welcome to bring business cards, brochures etc. New attendees are welcome and there is no membership fee. The meeting cost is $2 person.
