Two men have been arrested by West Hartford Police and face multiple charges in connection with a drug operation at a Farmington Avenue apartment located just 200 feet from an elementary school.
West Hartford Police said Tuesday that following an investigation they had obtained a narcotics search warrant which they executed on April 27, 2023, at approximately 9:30 a.m., arresting two West Hartford men – Jason L. Comeau and Jason R. Blinn, both 40 – and seizing cash and contraband. The warrant was served at 773 Farmington Avenue, Apt. #C4, which police said is approximately 200 feet from Whiting Lane Elementary School.
According to police, the West Hartford Police Community Support Unit had been conducting an investigation throughout the month of April into the suspected sale of Crystal Methamphetamine and Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (also known as “GHB” and sometimes referred to as a “date rape” drug for the feeling of euphoria and relaxation it can cause) from the 773 Farmington Avenue apartment building.
When the search warrant was executed at 773 Farmington Avenue, Apt. #C4, police said they found and seized $1,552 in cash, 16.6 pounds of suspected GHB, 32.8 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine, 8.2 grams of Psilocybin (psychedelic mushrooms), and assorted items including packaging equipment consistent with operating a drug factory.
Both Blinn and Comeau have been charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with intent to sell; two counts of possession of a hallucinogen (psychedelic mushrooms and “GHB”) with intent to sell; one count of operation of a drug factory; one count of illegal sale within 1,500 feet of a school; one count of conspiracy to possess and sell a controlled substance (methamphetamine); two counts of conspiracy to possess and sell a hallucinogen (psychedelic mushrooms and “GHB”); one count of conspiracy to operate a drug factory; and one count of conspiracy for illegal sale within 1,500 feet of a school.
Police said that Blinn, who is also facing other drug-related and motor vehicle charges according to online court records, was assigned a $50,000 surety bond and transferred to the custody of judicial marshals. Online records indicate that he is currently in custody on $100,000 court set bond and due in court in Hartford on May 16.
Comeau was released on $10,000 non-surety bond and due in court in Hartford on May 11.
