The University of Connecticut has issued an alert that the UConn Fire Department will be testing the outside siren systems this week.

According to the notice, the testing at the West Hartford campus will take place at various times on Monday, March 14, 2016. Additional testing may take place throughout the week, and all testing is scheduled to be completed by Thursday.

The testing will include “emergency tones, voice messages, or a combination thereof” broadcast over the sirens’ loudspeakers. Most of the activations will be preceded by a warning announcement about the upcoming test.

According to UConn, the volumes will not be loud enough to interrupt daily activities.

Testing will also take place at the Storrs, Depot, and UConn School of Law Campuses this week.

In the case of an actual emergency, information would be posted on the University’s Alert site at www.alert.uconn.edu.
