A Bookwyrm Fest on July 8, a Chidren’s Fun Run on July 15, and an ongoing summer reading challenge for adults are among the summer activities at the West Hartford Library.

Bookwyrm Fest, July 8

West Hartford Public Library’s first ever BOOKWYRM FEST is perfect for fantasy and gaming fans. The event features an escape room, live action role play, music, vendors, board games demonstrations, discussion panels, and much more.

Events take place on Saturday, July 8, noon to 4 p.m. inside and outside at the Noah Webster Library, 20 South Main St., and at Webster Walk in Blue Back Square. A list of drop-in and registration-required events can be found on the West Hartford Library website https://bit.ly/bookwyrmfest

Book It! Children’s Fun Run, July 15

On Saturday, July 15, the West Hartford Library will hold Book It, a children’s fun run at Sterling Field, adjacent to the Charter Oak International Academy.  The event features a “Toddler Dash” (100 meters), a quarter-mile race and a one-mile race. Summer Reading Challenge

West Hartford Public Library is hosting a Summer Reading Challenge for Adults that runs through Aug. 31.

  • For each book you read that fulfills one of the summer reading categories, you will earn a chance to win bi-weekly and grand prizes. You will also be able to complete activities to earn additional chances to win.
  • Submit each book or activity online or at any West Hartford Public Library service desk.
  • Visit the online leaderboard to follow how you’re doing and to see what everyone is reading!
  • Open to adults, as well as rising high school juniors and seniors.

Participants can also earn additional chances to win by completing activities such as attending a library program or trying a recipe from a library cookbook.
