Students in the West Hartford Adult Education Advanced ESL asked to visit the Mark Twain House after watching and discussing the original 1938 movie about Tom Sawyer.
Their teacher, Joe Viola, said that many of them studied Mark Twain in their native countries but his impact on American history came to life after they visited the museum on Oct. 29, 2025.
Students pictured are from China, Mexico, Peru, Spain, Turkey, and Ukraine. The West Hartford Adult Education Program teaches English to natives of these and over 34 other countries.
