The West Hartford Art League will be holding its first Emerging Artists exhibit in its two galleries Sept. 13 – Oct. 4. The opening reception, Sunday, Sept. 13 will be held from 2-4 p.m. in both galleries, and is free and open to the public.

Six Emerging Artists, recent graduates who earned either  an undergraduate or graduate degree in art, and are looking to pursue a career as artists, were juried into the exhibit. They include Terrance Regan: Digital/Video; Cynthia Melendez: Photography; Hong Hong: Papermaking; Krista Narciso: Printmaking; Alison Pilon: Mixed Media; and Genevieve Cohn:Painting.

Artists were through a juried selection process by four artists: Shira Avidor, an instructor from the Lyme Academy College of ArtRob Loebell, an art teacher at Hall High School in West Hartford; Brigid Kennedy, an art teacher at Conard High School; and Anita Balkun, an art teacher at the Greater Hartford Academy of Art in Hartford.

In addition to showcasing their work in our galleries, five of the six artists will be giving a series of free talks during the course of the exhibit in which they will discuss their work, ideas, direction and techniques. These talks are free and open to the public. These talks are made possible thanks to funding from the Edward C. And Ann T. Roberts Foundation, along with additional funding from the Greater Hartford Arts Council.

The exhibit will run from Sept. 13 – Oct. 4. Gallery hours are ThursdaySunday from 1-4 p.m or by appointment.
