The West Hartford Chamber of Commerce’s 28th annual golf tournament is in a new location this year, and offers a dinner-only option for non-golfers, changes which Executive Director Barbara Lerner hopes will make the organization’s signature fundraiser bigger and better than ever.
The golf tournament will be held at Hartford Golf Club, on Monday, Sept. 22, with registration beginning at 11 a.m. followed by lunch and a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The venue was changed in part to better accommodate a larger group, Lerner said.
“The tournament is a great kickoff for the Chamber’s fall season,” said Lerner.
It’s also the organization’s one major fundraiser and typically nets in excess of $30,000. Lerner hopes that the day-long event will be even more successful this year.
New this year is the opportunity to attend only the dinner, which begins at 5:30 p.m. and includes an open bar. The dinner is doubling as one of the Chamber’s monthly “Business After Hours” events, and is a great way to allow those who don’t play golf to participate in the event.
“Everybody is really excited about emcee Andy Katz – THE college basketball expert,” said Lerner. Katz is a commentator and senior writer with ESPN, and is also a West Hartford resident.
Space is still available for golfers as well as dinner-only guests, and complete registration information is available on the Chamber of Commerce website, or by calling 860-521-2300. Raffle prizes are still being collected as well. Rockville Bank, A Division of United Bank, is the presenting sponsor for the tournament.
“It’s a great event, a wonderful way to meet people, and it’s a beautiful locale,” said Lerner.
