[UPDATE, Sept. 17: We have learned that the information about Bonefish Grill was just a rumor. Blue Back Square’s leasing representative has confirmed that Bonefish Grill is not coming to Blue Back Square at this time.]

“Business Buzz” is exactly what it sounds like – a column featuring news about West Hartford’s businesses!

We know that you like to be “in the know,” and we will try to make sure that you are. This weekly column will highlight business stories you may have missed during the past week as well as any other business-related scoop we might have. Sometimes the news isn’t enough for a full story (or we haven’t been able to get all the details yet), but it may still be newsworthy so you’ll find it here.

This column needs your input, too! If you have tips about businesses opening or closing, or doing something worth sharing, please provide that information in the comments or email Ronni Newton at [email protected].

  • Let’s start with some positive news this week: World of Beer will be opening in Blue Back Square! According to its website, World of Beer offers an “extensive selection of craft beers” and is designed so that a “beer aficionado or a casual beer fan” will feel right at home. World of Beer will be located in the former National Jean Company space at 73 Isham Rd. And for those who are job-hunting, according to the website, they are hiring.
  • We also have learned from some reputable sources that Bonefish Grill is going to open a restaurant in Blue Back Square. This one hasn’t been confirmed yet, and we’ll publish additional details once they are available.
  • ShopRite is now offering online ordering and home delivery. The following was posted in the comments of last week’s Business Buzz column: Joseph Family Markets, owner and operator the ShopRites in West Hartford and Canton is thrilled to bring our ShopRite from Home grocery service to the areas surrounding those towns! By placing an order online at ShopRite.com or via the ShopRite from Home mobile app, area residents can have their entire grocery order carefully selected by an in-store team of personal shoppers and delivered directly to their homes or packaged for pick up at the West Hartford store. Have questions or need additional information? Call the ShopRite from Home team at 860-233-1713.
  • A reader asked us to find out what happened to The Greeting Shoppe, which was formerly located at 972 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. We’re happy to report that although the store closed its doors, it’s still in business and personalized stationary, napkins, invitations, and more can be ordered online. Visit the website www.greetingshoppe.com or call 203-668-5939 for more details.
  • Fashion Week is here! Read this article for all the scoop about designer visits and trunk shows, as well as the grand celebration that should not be missed by West Hartford fashionistas – Fashion Night Out on Saturday, Sept. 20. Tickets to the celebration are only $20 (of which $5 supports the West Hartford Food Pantry) and include great food and drink, as well as a red carpet fashion show.
  • Bonus bullet point for this week because the weather is perfect for golf: Space is still available for the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce’s 28th Annual Golf Tournament.
