A dog walker turned herself in to the West Hartford Police Department Thursday afternoon on larceny charges after detectives determined that she had pawned jewelry that belonged to one of her clients.

Kristina Cable, 33, of Burnside Avenue in East Hartford had been hired as a dog walker for a West Hartford family. Police said that the family reported missing jewelry valued at $37,994, and detectives discovered that it had been pawned by Cable.

According to Sgt. Eric Rocheleau, “Cable had a number of customers in West Hartford and a lengthy pawn transaction record.” He said Friday that Det. Brandon Lee is investigating other pawn transactions to determine if there are additional victims.

Cable has been charged with first-degree larceny, and was released on a court-set bond of $25,000. She is due to appear in court on April 28.

Cable works for a dog-sitting company in Windsor that was not named by police, but the company has been very cooperative in the investigation, police said.
