West Hartford Exchange Club Supports Hands on Hartford

The West Hartford Exchange Club invited Hands on Hartford to speak at its most recent meeting, and provided the organization with a donation.

At its Nov. 21 monthly meeting, the West Hartford Exchange Club hosted Executive Director Barbara Shaw as well as Karen Bailey-Francois and Chris Coleman, board members of Hands on Hartford. They spoke to the club about Hands on Hartford’s work as a social service nonprofit organization that serves Hartford’s neediest residents in the areas of food, housing, and economic security. Founded in 1969 as Center City Churches, the agency has had a longstanding commitment to providing respectful, comprehensive services with help from volunteers and community partnerships reaching 8,500 people annually. The West Hartford Exchange Club’s mission is to make its community a better place to live through programs of service in Americanism, Community Service, Youth Activities and its national project, the Prevention of Child Abuse. The club sponsors the West Hartford Police & Firefighters Annual Service Awards and provides annual scholarships to Hall and Conard graduates. The club also donates to a variety of local charities.
