The HGTV show “House Hunters” returns to West Hartford in an episode to be aired Thursday, Dec. 17 entitled “Afraid To Be Far From Fairfield.”

The premise of the popular show is to take a behind-the-scenes look at the home-buying process – to explore the emotional as well as financial decisions that go into deciding if a particular home is the right choice for an individual, couple, or family. Three “finalists” are typically chosen to be featured in the program.

Season 196, Episode 9 features Janelle and David.

A family is tired of renting and looks to purchase a home near Fairfield, Connecticut; he wants to look outside Fairfield so they can get more house for their money, but she’s willing to stretch their budget to avoid another long, relocating move,” the HGTV description of the episode states.

West Hartford Public Relations Specialist Renée McCue said the episode was filmed in July. She provided the production team with a list of some West Hartford sites to be included in the show – including the Center, Fernridge Park, Wolcott Park, Elizabeth Park, and the MDC Reservoir – many of which should be seen in the episode.

West Hartford has been featured on House Hunters multiple times in the past, including the episodes “Fixer vs. Upgraded” in Season 79 (Episode 12, October 2013) and “Historic Charmer vs. New Construction” in Season 81 (Episode 12, January 2014), as well as in the related program “House Hunters Renovation” in 2015.

“Afraid To Be Far From Fairfield” will air on HGTV on Thursday, Dec. 17, at 10 p.m., and again on Friday, Dec. 18 at 1 a.m. on Comcast channels 42 and 1492. The show will also be available for viewing on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/user/HGTV.

The couple’s decision – of course – is kept secret until the program airs.

    Hello,
    Happy New Year!
I am looking to adopt a cat from a West HARTFORD family that can’t take care of one any longer.
Would you know of any prospects?
    Thank you.
